Your hair could give doctors an idea about your risk for heart disease.
A study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism examined hair samples from nearly three hundred seniors. The researchers measured levels of the stress hormone cortisol in each sample of hair and found those that had the most cortisol had the greatest risk for heart trouble.
Hair samples can be more accurate than blood samples because they can show levels of the stress hormone over a long period of time rather than right at that moment.
