Talkington Foundation donates $1.5 million to Dream Center

From The Lubbock Dream Center:

The Lubbock Dream Center (LDC) is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a $1.5 million grant from the J.T. and Margaret Talkington Charitable Foundation, for the construction of a multi-purpose facility that will be located adjacent to the Center's existing building, on 30th and Ave L.

The new multi-purpose building will contain a full-size gymnasium/basketball court that will be multi-functional. In addition to the gymnasium, this facility will include a conference room, computer lab, classrooms and office space for volunteers and staff.

The new building will further give neighborhood families quality of life opportunities including educational possibilities, and serve as a center for physical exercise - offering involvement in organized sports, as well as, increased positive social interaction.

"The Lubbock Dream Center is extremely grateful for the grant. We believe this new facility further propels our abilities to touch, change, and enhance lives in the Dream Center neighborhood, as well as the rest of the city of Lubbock, to an entirely new level," said Jantzen Louder, Executive Pastor of Church on the Rock and the Lubbock Dream Center.

The Lubbock Dream Center, founded in 2007, is a non-profit organization located in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood of southeast Lubbock. It is dedicated to investing in the lives of others, restoring hope and equipping them from a state of dependency to a state of independence. This multipurpose center is phase one of the "Dream Bigger Campaign".

The J.T. and Margaret Talkington Charitable Foundation is a private foundation created by the generosity of J.T. and Margaret Talkington. The Talkington Foundation seeks to invest in projects which strive to make the Lubbock community a better place to live and work for all individuals and families.
