Every 17 seconds, someone is diagnosed with diabetes. The American Diabetes Association says researchers are close to finding a cure. But we already know that prevention is even better than waiting for a cure. Whether diabetes runs in your family or you'd like to know more about keeping your family diabetes free, you are invited to the Healthy Living in the Real World seminar this Saturday, April 20th.
"There's going to be cooking demonstrations, exercise demonstrations, and a lot of information. There's going to be a discussion panel run by experts and there's also going to be a meeting with a kidney specialist because a lot of people are interested about diabetes and kidney complications," said Daina Dremaine, an endocrinologist at TTUHSC.
You don't need a reservation, but you will need to stay for the whole morning since they have so much planned.
The event is free and will take place at Wellness Today from 8:30 to 12:30 this Saturday. Wellness Today is just off the South Loop near University.
