United Blood Services is not able to fill orders for local hospitals and desperately needs blood donors.
4-month-old Trista Stanley is scheduled to have open heart surgery at Covenant Medical Center on Tuesday but the low blood supply could delay that surgery.
"There's a lack of blood for her, so we came out to donate and hope everyone else would too," said Shonnie Stanley, who donated blood for her daughter at UBS on Friday.
Stanley is urging anyone to donate to help her daughter and others who depend on blood for surgeries. To donate blood, you must be in good health, at least 17-years-old and weigh at least 110 pounds.
Walk-ins are welcome, but you can set up an appointment to speed up the process. Call United Blood Services at (806) 741-1752 or drop by the center at 48th and University.
