Start time for WBU-LCU game moved ahead

From Wayland Baptist University:

Tuesday's Sooner Athletic Conference baseball game at Wilder Field between Wayland Baptist and Lubbock Christian has been moved ahead to 5 p.m. The contest originally was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The change was made as a result of cold, windy weather expected to hit the region.

Tuesday's game is the first of four nine-inning contests this week between the Pioneers (18-31, 9-14 SAC) and Chaparrals (36-13, 16-8), who are tied for sixth in this week's NAIA Top 25 poll. The teams also play at 6 p.m. Thursday at LCU, 6 p.m. Friday at Wilder Field and 2 p.m. Saturday at LCU.

The games not only represent the end to the regular season for both teams but also the final time the longtime rivals will meet as NAIA opponents. LCU will move to NCAA Division II next school year. The Chaparrals lead the all-time series with Wayland, 72-19.

Admission to games at Wilder Field is free. Special giveaways and fan contests are planned for Tuesday's and Friday's games, although those could be suspended by the weather.

The SAC Tournament will be played May 1-4 at Oklahoma City University and Oklahoma Baptist University.
