Panthers' losing streak will show character, Davis says

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Panthers find themselves in unfamiliar territory.

The Panthers are mired in the franchise's first ever two-game losing streak after falling to Knoxville and Alabama in previous weeks.

Add to that the team's current two week bye, and it's been since March the team last tasted victory.

That's something that doesn't sit well with head coach Lucious Davis, but he says this is only a test of the team's character.

"In order to be champions, we got to face some type of adversity, and right now, this is our time," he says. "Right now, we just have to weather it and see what happens next week."

Davis says how the team responds during practice and the next few games will show if the Panthers still have championship merit.

"This drought or this spell that we've been on, it'll let us know which guys are hungry enough to win again, or which guys have just pretty much laid down," he says. "That's the one thing I've pretty much been evaluating over this week."

The Panthers are off again this weekend, and return to the road at Richmond May 4th.
