A legal battle is underway between Wayland Baptist University and their former Chief Financial Officer.

The Plainview Daily Herald is reporting that James Smith was dismissed from his position on April 11th over concerns about the possibility of financial mismanagement.

The university has launched an internal investigation into the matter and filed a civil lawsuit yesterday.

The Plainview Daily Herald also says the university has been in contact with law enforcement and will cooperate fully with any further investigation.
