2 injured in Saturday night motorcycle wreck

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Two people were injured Saturday night when a motorcycle ran into a ditch near 66th & Milwaukee.

Police say it happened around 8:45 p.m. Traffic from Marsha Sharp Freeway was blocked off while officers tended to the scene.

Police say the motorcycle was headed west near 6500 66th Street, driving on an improved shoulder on the north side of the roadway. The shoulder ended west of 6500 Norwich Avenue and the motorcycle continued into the ditch.

The operator lost control, the motorcycle flipped on its side and both operator and passenger were thrown from the vehicle.

The operator, 35-year-old Manuel Garcia, was taken to UMC with life-threatening injuries. His passenger, 42-year-old Alicia Garcia, sustained moderate injuries.
