LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

High winds caused some serious damage in Lubbock Tuesday evening, including right here at KCBD.

Lightning struck near the station during our 6 p.m. newscast, knocking us off the air and causing a grass fire right outside our doors.

The building was evacuated as smoke filled the area.

Firefighters were finally able to contain the blaze around 8:15 p.m.

Everyone at the station is safe and we'll have all the details for you tonight at 10.
