New research at Harvard could help identify which patients will benefit the most from weight loss surgery.
They found that people with two copies of a specific gene variant lost an average of nearly 40% of their body weight after surgery. But, those without a copy of the gene lost less than 30% of their body weight.
Experts say this information could help doctors advise patients toward a weight loss solution that would work best for them.
