We have a heartwarming edition of Pay It Forward this week. We set up with our Pay It Forward sign along 34th Street in Central Lubbock.
In no time, we were approached by Mario Olguin, Mary Alice Olguin and Maria Alvarado. They spotted our sign and wanted to help out a very special friend.
Mario and Maria explained that they have a friend named Tony who recently lost his mother after taking care of her for some time.
They told us that Tony has had a hard time getting back on track and they feel that he deserves something positive in his life.
Mario and Maria tell us that Tony would do anything for his friends and family. He has been helpful to all of his neighbors and friends. Mario and Maria simply want to make his day by giving him a special gift.
We set out for Tony's house. When we arrive, Tony opens the door and Mario and Maria count out $300 to help Tony out.
Tony is shy and a little embarrassed, but he graciously accepts the gift. He only wishes he could do more to help others out. He told us it has been rough losing his mother, but he is encouraged that he has friends like Maria and Mario.
