The past nine years have been a nightmare for Vikki Wilkerson; a nightmare that she continues to spiral deeper and deeper into. Her daughter, Jennifer Wilkerson, disappeared without a trace in Lubbock back in 2004, and so far there have not been any new leads.
"With the recent ID of the remains found in Scurry County as being little Hailey Dunn… I was in a very, very dark place. I've been there before over the last nine years," Vikki said.
Although Jennifer's case sits cold, Vikki's hope has once again been restored. As she watched the news out of Cleveland of the three women kidnapped more than a decade ago being reunited with their families on Tuesday, Vikki says her spirits were lifted.
"It was like a darkness just came out of my heart. I was so happy, and it gave me hope again," she said. "It's just wonderful and it makes me realize there are still miracles."
Each day Vikki thinks about her daughter and the nightmare she has been forced to live, but this new hope and inspiration is helping her get by day after day.
"I can't even put into words how today has been. Sometimes things happen to let you know there's something bigger than anyone down here on Earth that's taking care of things. Today was one of those days," Vikki said. "She got to experience life, and I'm thankful for that. I'm hoping to find out she has a lot more life she can experience."
Jennifer was last seen leaving her boyfriend's home in Lubbock back on July 13, 2004. If you have any information that could help solve this case and bring closure to her family you are asked to CrimeLine at 741-1000.
