New program offers wide range of help for the elderly

Posted: Updated:

Seniors in Lubbock County have the opportunity to take advantage of a new pilot program here to help with all sorts of age-related issues, from protecting against falls, to filling out the paperwork for Medicare or Medicaid.

The program is called PACE, which stands for Program All-inclusive Care for the Elderly. But don't be fooled by that last word, because it's free, with a wide range of services to anyone who qualifies over the age of 55.

"We take care of everything for patients that qualify: medical, dental, medication, as well as there's a clinic on-site that takes care of all their medical needs," said Al Bendeck, who helps to oversee the program.

If you'd like to learn more about the pace program, the number to call is 740-1500 or you can just walk into the Silver Star health clinic at 4010 22nd street.
