About 300 women showed up on Wednesday at the Civic Center in a heart-felt effort to take care of themselves. It was the 8th Annual Go Red Conference sponsored by Covenant and the American Heart Association.
It offered bone density screenings, body mass index tests, blood pressure checks, and much more. A few men sneaked in for some good information on heart health, but the focus really was on women, for good reason.
"Many people in the past thought that coronary disease was predominately an illness of men, and this is just a way of raising the awareness level of the fact that coronary disease, equally if not more so, affects women as to men and that's why this is an important conference," says Dr. John Zias, a Cardiologist.
