A group of Lubbock families started their Mother's Day by playing in the mud.
Some ran, while others crawled through six different mud pits, jumped over walls and maneuvered their way through a maze in the Fourth Annual Hub City Mud Run.
There was a mile obstacle course for various age groups, and even a 5K for the advanced.
Organizers say they're trying to promote more kid-friendly races in the community. They hope this one is just one of many.
West Texas Endurance Member Leigh Cordees said, "This is a good way to get kids out. Just because of the mud it's more of fun thing, so they don't feel pressure. It's a blast to watch them go through the obstacles."
About 300 runners took part in Sunday's mud race.
