Junk vehicles could be subject to seizure if proposed changes to Lubbock's junk vehicle ordinance are passed.
On Thursday Lubbock City Council members approved the first reading of the change. It requires licensed used car dealers to build a fence to shield junk vehicles. If they don't, then the city has a right to tow the vehicles away.
Councilwoman Linda DeLeon says a loop hole in the current ordinance does not allow the city to tow the dealer's junk vehicles away.
The proposal could become final next month.
