Rain interrupts 14 inning classic, DWS on to semis

PERRY, GA (WALB) -

Knights advance to State Semis

The Deerfield-Windsor Knights have punched their ticket to the GISA AAA State Baseball Semifinals.

Rod Murray's squad pulled out a pair of one-run wins on the road at Westfield Saturday.

The Knights took Game 1, 7-6, then won Game 2 in 8 innings, 3-2.

Up next for the Knights is Brookwood, who travels to Albany for the state semifinal series next week.

Tiftarea drops heartbreaking Game 3 in extras

An hour-long rain delay interrupted a classic 14-inning Game 3 that would send Tiftarea or Tattnall Square to the AAA Semis.

In the end, it was Tattnall pulling out the win.

At the end of 7 innings, the teams were tied at 2, and they stayed that way for another full 7 innings, before Tattnall plated 4 runs to win.

Historic season over for Terrell Academy

Terrell Academy was hoping to add to the school's first ever region championship.

They'll have to settle for that piece of history.

After being no hit by Edmund Burke in Game 1, the Eagles dropped Game 2, 12-4, Saturday in Dawson.

The game was halted for over 2 hours during the first inning due to lightning and rain.
