Monterey HS students enact "Shattered Dreams" Monday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

On Monday, May 20th, Monterey High School students, teachers, community members and emergency crews will participate in the "Shattered Dreams" program.

"Shattered Dreams" is an educational program for high school students that centers around a mock DWI-related crash and plays out the results of underage drinking and driving throughout the school day. The experience involves actual emergency crews, law enforcement, medical personnel and family members. Students are able to see the results of the crash unfold throughout the day as a "grim reaper" comes to classrooms and chooses new victims which reflect the number of DWI-related deaths per year.

Lubbock Police, Fire and EMS units will be at the Monterey High School campus beginning around 9:30 a.m. as part of the reenactment.
