LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

18-year-old Benjamin Henry has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after police say he shot 20-year-old Lakarl Washington late Tuesday evening.

Police say they responded to a shots fired call at 5500 Harvard Street near north Chicago around 11:40 p.m. when they pulled up to a wreck at 4th and Quaker. According to police, Washington was at the wreck scene with other involved parties and witnesses.

They say Washington was shot in the stomach and tried to drive himself to the hospital but was broadsided when he pulled out in front of a pickup truck.

EMS took Washington to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. He is currently in stable condition at UMC.

Officers say they found Henry at the scene of the shooting and arrested him.
