Tech officially names Whitaker new head basketball coach

Texas Tech formally announced the new women's head basketball coach Wednesday.

Officials named former Lady Raider Candace Whitaker the 6th head coach in the university's history at a news conference. She says a majority of her family lives in West Texas so it couldn't be a more perfect fit.

Whitaker played for Tech from 2000-2002. She spent her  last basketball season as the Associate Head Coach at Oklahoma State.
