Customers at a new store in Cape Town, South Africa don't spend a dime; they just leave a promise to be an organ donor.
The boutique is called "the exchange" and it opened earlier this month in Cape Town. It's stocked with clothing and accessories all donated by local South African designers. But nothing in the store can be bought with cash or credit. Instead, customers can choose any item in exchange for registering as an organ donor.
"I've been meaning to register to be an organ donor for ages, so it's great extra incentive and I have also seen it be extra incentive for friends and family who have been meaning to sign up for this, and finally know where to come to," said Erin Jegels who is a fashion designer
Currently, less than point-two percent of South Africans are registered as organ donors.
