LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The trial began in Bailey County on Tuesday for a Muleshoe man police say was involved in a deadly shooting in June of 2012.

Daniel Cardon is charged with capital murder after police say he killed 38-year old Lucila Perez.

Investigators say Cardon and Perez were going through a divorce and add that Perez also had a restraining order against him.

Police say Cardon entered her home in the 300 block of West 3rd Street in Muleshoe and shot her.

He was later found in a field east of Muleshoe where he was arrested.

We will bring the latest developments in the trail as they become available.
