November 28th, 2012 is a day that will always haunt Jennifer Keen; it's a day that changed her life forever.
"It's just a lot of emotions. This is one of my friends… who is being charged with two of my other friends' murders," Jennifer said.
On Wednesday, Jennifer heard the news that Joshua Bulls, 35, had been indicted by a Lubbock Grand Jury for the murder of Jodi Winn, 32. But it was no surprise for Jennifer. When Bulls was indicted back in February for the murder of another friend, 32-year-old Dave Martinez, she knew this indictment would follow.
Reportedly DNA evidence now links the two murders, but Jennifer believed they were connected all along. She says Jodi, Dave, Bulls and herself had been friends for almost nine years, but weeks before the murders Bulls had started acting strangely.
"Jodi had been telling me that Josh visited her, and that she was scared," Jennifer said. "I would've never thought that he would do that to somebody like Jodi and Dave."
On November 28th, Jennifer says she witnessed Bulls come into her home and suddenly stab Dave in the neck. She says it's because of Dave that she is still alive.
"When he came after me, I was right by my son's room. Dave being so close to my son, like a father figure, he wasn't going to let anything happen. He slammed the screen door and drew the attention away from us," she said. "His face was just deranged. It was like nothing I had ever seen before."
Jennifer says Bulls ran outside, chased Dave and continued to stab him. Hysterical and still in shock, Jennifer went to Jodi's home to tell her the devastating news.
"I knew something was wrong when I was banging on her door," Jennifer said.
Jennifer had no idea her nightmare was about to get worse. Just hours after Bulls was arrested for Dave's murder, Jodi was found murdered in her home.
But the question of why her two friends were murdered remains a mystery.
"I actually thought about going to visit Josh because I want answers," Jennifer said. "He is my biggest fear. As a child I never had nightmares over anything as much as I have nightmares about this man."
While she is still in shock from losing two friends and having another behind bars, Jennifer says she is happy for Jodi's family that someone has now been indicted for her murder.
"Justice will now be served now on her behalf. It's not an unlabeled murder, you know, there is a face and name to it now.
Bulls is still in jail. His bond has been raised to $1.5 million.
