LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Students at Waters Elementary have something to brag about.

Wednesday, they received awards earned during a global competition in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Three groups of students from the school competed in Destination Imagination which challenges students to creatively solve problems on teams.

Kelly Baum, a team coach, praised the program for having a big impact on the students.

"Our girls learned how to serve in the community...how to reach out and do stuff beyond the walls of their school," she said.

One of the teams placed 3rd in the "Wind Invisible Challenge" and another team placed 2nd in the "Project Outreach Challenge."

A total of 1200 teams from the US and 14 other countries took part in the competition.
