Consider This...KCBD kicks off Support Our Sirens campaign
You may have noticed I've been very vocal about Lubbock's need for tornado sirens.
When I hear about sirens saving lives in smaller communities and even giving advance warning in cities like Amarillo, I am still astonished Lubbock remains without active sirens.
And I know there is discussion behind closed doors right now about the issue. And one of the factors the Lubbock City Council will consider when deciding is the pulse of the community. More specifically, do the majority of citizens support sirens?
Research shows a cost of about $4 million for sirens to go up across Lubbock. A small price to pay to save even one life.
KCBD has decided to take this discussion to a new level. On Thursday we launched a community-wide effort we are calling our S.O.S. campaign - Support Our Sirens.
And we're making it easy for you:
Just fill out the form right here in this story and sign our on-line petition in support of sirens.
We will do the rest and take your voice to city hall. And in the next few days, look for more ways you can join our campaign and send an S.O.S. straight to city hall.
We want to know what you think. Voice your opinion by commenting below, by e-mailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or by writing us at:
