Jolan Cailleau joins Texas Tech tennis

From Texas Tech Athletics:

Texas Tech head coach Tim Siegel has added a second Belgian with the addition of Jolan Cailleau, who has signed with Red Raider Tennis.

"Jolan is another player that I feel can help us right away," said Siegel. "Maxime (Hinnisdaels) and Jolan are a part of the base of the future of Red Raider Tennis. His work ethic and talent will have a positive impact on our team."

Hinnisdaels, another Top 60 Belgian player, officially joined the Red Raiders on Thursday. The Red Raiders return five letterwinners from last season, but only one upperclassman.

Cailleau is ranked in the Top 60 in Belgium and has several key ranked wins while playing in Europe, including topping South Alabama's Romain Bocaert and Oregon's Robin Cambier. He also topped Belgian No. 20 Gaetan De Lovinfosse (ATP No. 770).

"I chose Texas Tech for several reasons," said Cailleau. "I feel that Texas Tech has the best plan for me to improve as a player and as a student. I am very excited to be able to play tennis at a very high level and combine that with my studies. Having one of my best friends joining the team in the fall as well, Maxime Hinnisdaels, gave me even more motivation to join this great team and represent this great institution."

Cailleau was also recruited by Virginia Tech, Tulsa and Louisville before deciding on Texas Tech.

"I look forward to working with and mentoring Jolan," said associate head coach Marcelo Ferreira. "He has a lot of potential and so much room to improve. He will be bringing a lot to the table along with Maxime."
