Cardon found guilty of capital murder for 2012 shooting

BAILEY COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

Friday, a Muleshoe man was found guilty of capital murder.

Daniel Cardon, 49, was arrested in June of 2012 for allegedly shooting his estranged wife, 38-year-old Lucila Perez.

His sister-in-law claimed Perez had filed a restraining order against Cardon and was planning to file for divorce that Monday. She also said she was an eyewitness to the shooting.

The trial began Tuesday ended on Friday after nearly 2 hours of deliberations.

Cardon has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
