New research finds the best anti-aging cream money can buy is more affordable than most.
After analyzing the skin of more than 900 people age 55 and younger, Australian researchers found those who used sunscreen every day for 4 years had a 24% reduction in skin aging compared to those who used sunscreen every once in a while.
According to Joseph Merola, M.D., dermatologist at Brigham & Women's Hospital, the study supports what doctors already suspected:
"Sunscreen is a primary first-line agent for anti-aging," he says.
He says one theory is that sunscreen prevents aging by blocking the break down of collagen.
Thankfully, consumer reports recently found some of the most effective sunscreens are the least expensive generic brands from Walmart and Target.
