Salvation Army providing shelter for displaced residents

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Several apartment complexes suffered roof damage in Wednesday night's storm, leaving many searching for a place to stay.

The storm ripped off two roofs at the Villa Del Norte Apartments off Baylor Street.

By the time the Red Cross got there, many had already found a place to stay, but they did have to help four adults find temporary shelter after the storm.

Veronica Valentine's apartment saw extensive water damage to her roof and walls.

"We got to the back door where wind really picked up and I'm holding on to the door to keep it from opening up. I didn't realize how bad it was until I came out later when the storm had passed and there was a lot of hail... It was banging all over the place," Veronica said.

Luckily for her family, they have renter's insurance, so the insurance company will help put them in a hotel until they can get back on their feet.

But if you were effected by last night's storm and need a place to stay - the Salvation Army is open and ready with cots set up at 1111 16th Street.
