A man is being charged with one count of capital murder in connection with a double homicide in Wolfforth Thursday night.

Lubbock County Sheriffs and Wolfforth police responded to the 9200 block of Dawson Street around 7:30 p.m. where they found two men were dead from shotgun wounds.

Police have identified the victims as 50-year-old Gilbert Del Toro and 59-year-old Joe Garcia.

Lt. Bryan Taylor with the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect as 46-year-old Jerry Flores. Flores was taken to UMC in handcuffs with minor injuries.

Flores told police at the scene that the two men tried to kill him. He has requested a lawyer in his case.

The medical examiner has ruled both cases as homicides. Autopsy results show that Del Toro was shot once in the chest and once in the back. Garcia was also shot twice: he received one fatal shot to the chest and one superficial wound that did not penetrate the core.

Flores is being charged with capital murder. He is in custody and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
