HALE CENTER, TX (KCBD) -

The Hale Center Police Chief says officers were called to the area of Avenue E and 2nd Street Sunday night after multiple reports of gunshots.

When they arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds collapsed in the yard of a nearby residence. Hale Center EMS transported the victim to Covenant Hospital in Plainview with serious injuries.

Police have identified the man as a 51-year-old Hispanic male. They believe he may have been trying to burglarize a business when he was shot by the owner.
