East Texas woman shot and killed early Wednesday morning

CORSICANA, TX (KLTV) -

A Corsicana woman was shot and killed early Wednesday morning. According to Corsicana police, officers responded to the 1700 block of East Sixth Avenue after reports of shots fired in the area. When they arrived, they found 25-year-old Lequiria Chaney shot. The victim was transported to Navarro Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 27-year-old Corsicana man was taken into custody without incident at the scene. Authorities say the suspect and victim had been involved in a personal relationship. The man was booked into the Navarro County Jail on a 72-hour investigative hold for murder.

The case is under investigation by several Corsicana detectives.
