Queens sign South Plains transfer, former PHS standout

From Wayland Baptist University:

Sydney Hearn signed to play basketball at Wayland Baptist University for the Flying Queens Monday morning in the Hall of Honor at Hutcherson Center.

Hearn has spent the past two seasons playing at South Plains College where she was named the best post player and most improved defensive player. As a member of the Lady Texans' basketball team Hearn was also named to the Western Junior College Athletic Conference all-conference team.

The 2011 Plainview High School graduate played an important role in helping the Lady Texans finish in a three-way tie for first place in the WJCAC, finishing with an overall record of 25-6 for the 2012-13 season.

In high school Hearn lettered in basketball for three years and was named to the all-district team twice. Her senior year she was selected to play in an all-star game in which she won the three-point shootout and was named the MVP.

Hearn will join former high school teammate Laura Castillo on the Queens' roster.
