The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Saturday in Lamb County that led to the seizure of a large amount of illegal drugs.

At approximately 10:31 a.m., a DPS Highway Patrol trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Dodge passenger vehicle, traveling eastbound on US 84 near Anton for speeding. During the traffic stop, the trooper called for assistance from a DPS canine unit. After a positive alert on the vehicle, a search was conducted that revealed over 2000 grams of hashish and over 50 grams of marijuana hidden throughout the vehicle. The drugs were valued at over $100,000.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Daniel J. Brigance, 37, of San Francisco, Calif. Brigance was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a first degree felony, and booked into the Lamb County Jail. His bond was set at $10,000. The drugs were allegedly being transported from San Francisco, Calif., to Austin, TX.
