A team of Lubbock utility workers are on their way to Florida to help restore power to residents devastated by Hurricane Frances. Xcel energy sent a total of 100 workers, including 19 from the Lubbock region, to Orlando on Monday morning. The team will stay there for about a month to rebuild electric service delivery systems that were destroyed in the hurricane's path.
In a news release, management at Xcel Energy said they were happy to send help just as crews in Florida may someday come help in this region after a tornado.
