Fireworks on sale, with some restrictions

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Monday, June 24, fireworks go on sale in Lubbock County.

County commissioners voted earlier this month to ban the sale of bottle rockets and missiles because of the drought. However, other items, such as firecrackers, sparklers, and artillery shells will be sold.

Fireworks will be sold in the county but it is illegal to set them off inside Lubbock city limits.

Firefighters warn that it is still extremely dry, despite the recent rain so to take caution when celebrating the Fourth this year.

Avoid setting off fireworks near dry grass or brush and have water and sand ready in case of a fire.
