West Texas Running Club sponsors 44th Firecracker Run

BROWNFIELD, TX (KCBD) -

This Fourth of July, the oldest continuously-run road race in Texas will take place for the 44th time.

2013 marks the 44th Annual Firecracker Fun Run, sponsored by the West Texas Running Club.

The race consists of a 3-Mile, a 10-Mile and a 1-Mile Elementary Fun Run.

Awards will be given for the Top Male and Female finisher in each race as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners by age group. All Elementary Run participants will receive a medal.

Events take place in Brownfield at the Terry County/Coleman Park on Thursday, July 4 starting at 7:40 a.m.

Sustained winds at 20-30 mph, warm temperatures and low relative humidity values will create an elevated to critical fire weather risk for our area. A cold front will move through our area late tonight, shifting winds out of the north. Monday morning will be cool and breezy.
