There is an effort in Washington right now that I suspect is not very popular there. It's called the Death Tax Repeal Act of 2013.
It's a new law that would permanently repeal the federal estate tax. a tax now exceeding 40% for some land owners. 40%! That's the government helping themselves to almost half of a life's work.
The death tax is a direct attack on Texas family farmers, ranchers, and many other businesses. it is also a slap in the face to those grieving family's already struggling with the loss of loved ones.
Let this commentary serve as my official support for the Texas Death Tax Repeal Act of 2013. It's a noble effort by a few in Washington to undo what the majority has done: Take more money from hard-working Americans for their own gain. I don't think I could put it any better than U.S. Senator John Cornyn did when he said this week: "It's time to put common sense above Washington greed and get rid of the death tax once and for all."
If you agree, we have made it easy to show your support. Fill out the form in this story and we'll let our representatives in Washington know you want the death tax repealed.
