Lubbock Police Search For Clues In Deadly Hit And Run

Lubbock Police continue investigating a deadly hit and run accident, while a family says its final farewells to a loved one.

On Friday night, 79-year-old Benny Vasquez was crossing the street at East 2nd and Beech Avenue when he was hit by a car. He was buried Tuesday and family members say they're struggling to cope with his tragic death.

"This is something that, for the first time in my life that ever hurt me so much, because my brother was the oldest one in the family and he's 79 years old and he was a real great guy. He don't drink, nothing, he just moved to the new residence and thinking that happened to him that was tough I'm telling you," said Isabel Vargas, sister to Bennie Vasquez.

Police are looking for a late model 4-door dark blue car with tinted windows. If you have any information about this vehicle, please call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
