Political Contributions in the Race for District 19

We found that Republican candidate Randy Neugebauer and Democratic candidate Charlie Stenholm have accepted contributions from individuals and groups from all over the nation. So who's running a profitable campaign?

Stenholm has had nearly $1.3 million in contributions. Neugebauer comes in with a little more, nearly $1.4 million. A difference of $57,000.

After reviewing reports on the Federal Elections Commission webpage, Neugebauer has received local contributions from big businesses like Alderson Lexus, Frank Brown, Coldwell Banker, and City Bank. The list goes on.

Stenholm has his share of business contributions outside of Lubbock and both campaigns report signigicant donations from area farmers.

Last month the Texas Farm Bureau announced they would back Neugebauer this election year. The Texas Farm Bureau has backed Stenholm in past election years.

We also need to mention that Libertarian Chip Petterson had no information available with the F.E.C. about financial contributions to his campaign.
