Opponents of Senate Bill 5 gathered at 19th and University in Lubbock on Monday.
The controversial piece of legislation would ban abortions past 20 weeks of pregnancy. It would also shut down many Planned Parenthood clinics across the state. The group, which carried the message West Texas Stands for Women was open to both men and women who felt the bill threatened a woman's right to choose.
This is in reaction to the special session Gov. Perry called to re-address the bill. Republicans were able to get the bill passed, but because of a democratic filibuster, missed the midnight deadline by a few minutes.
