Family safe after early morning house fire

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock family is safe Wednesday morning after their home was completely destroyed by an early morning fire.

Fire crews responded to the 7400 block of 18th St. just after 4 a.m. They say a father and his young son were asleep in the home when the child noticed the flames and woke his dad up. The pair made it out of the home with no injuries.

It took four fire crews almost an hour to put the blaze out. Investigators on the scene think the fire may have started in a back room of the house, but the cause is still under investigation.

We will bring you updates as they become available.
