Dangerous joyride leaves man behind bars Wednesday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock police responded to a shots fired call early Wednesday morning.

At 2:27 a.m., witnesses reported occupants firing a gun while driving down 24th and Frankford in a yellow Hummer. Officers located the vehicle at 4300 W. Loop 289 and pursued it to the north alley of 6100 39th. All of the occupants exited the Hummer and fled on foot. Officers caught and arrested 19-year-old Joe Angel Chavez. Police found a stolen gun was located inside the vehicle and found that the Hummer was also stolen. 

Two additional suspects have not been identified. Lubbock Police are still investigating the incident.

Chavez was arrested for burglary of habitation, organized crime, theft of firearm, evading by vehicle and on foot, possession of marijuana and had 3 outstanding warrants for his arrest.

    The Justice Department has opened an antitrust investigation into whether AT&T and Verizon and a standards-setting group worked together to hinder consumers from easily switching wireless carriers.
