From Lubbock Christian University:
Lubbock Christian University volleyball head coach Jennifer Lawrence has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2013 Lady Chaparrals season.
The Lady Chaps will open their season Friday, Sept. 6 in the Lady Buff Classic hosted by West Texas A&M University. They will play Western State Colorado at 9:30 a.m. to open the season in Canyon, Texas. The classic is one of two regular season tournaments the Lady Chaps will partake in. They will host the Heartland / Lone Star Crossover Sept. 13 - 14, which is set for 12 matches hosted by LCU. The Lady Chaps will play in three of the matches in the event.
Of their 29 matches currently scheduled, LCU has 16 matches scheduled at home (hosted 10 home matches last season). LCU, who opened last season with their first 13 matches on the road, will open this season with four matches on the road. The home opener inside the Rip Griffin Center is set for 4 p.m. on Sept. 11 against Texas A&M International. The match against Texas A&M International also serves as the conference opener. LCU has 18 Heartland Conference contests, split with nine at home and nine on the road. Their schedule is very balanced with no more than four consecutive matches on the road during the season.
The season marks LCU's debut in the Heartland Conference. LCU will have conference games count towards their record, but they are ineligible for conference and NCAA postseason as part of their transition from NAIA to the NCAA. The Lady Chaps completed the 2012 season with a 23-9 record. They went 10-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, leading to a second place finish in the conference.
