Second person charged in UMC mail fraud case

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A second person has been charged in connection with a mail fraud case at UMC.

Rodolfo Mata, also known as Rudy Mata, has been charged with mail fraud and aiding and abetting.

In August of 2011, police say Mata received more than $3,200 by submitting a false invoice to UMC.

UMC's former vice president, Greg Bruce, pled guilty to those same charges last month.

According to court documents, Bruce conspired with Mata to submit false invoices to UMC.

Between 2007 and 2011, prosecutors say together, they took more than $680,000.

Bruce now faces up to 20 years in prison.

A sentencing date has not been set.
