5 area hoopsters selected for All-Star game

AUSTIN, TX (KCBD) -

Five area girls have been selected to play in the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Basketball games Friday in Austin.

Coronado's Suzzy Dimba and Bailey Wipff will play in the 4A/5A Game 2:30 Friday while Smyer's Jordan Locke, Cooper's Katy Boren and Idalou's Bailey Thiel compete in the 1A/2A/3A game at 11 a.m. Friday

"It's such an honor to get to go down there with the top girls in the state," Thiel said. The girls will go to Austin Thursday and get just one two-hour practice with their teams before Friday's All-Star game.

Coronado Girls Coach Kriss Ethridge will be an assistant coach for the 4A/5A Red team.

It says a lot about West Texas basketball to have five area all-stars selected for the games.

"There's some great girls out here and I'm just glad to play one last time before we all go our separate ways" Katy Boren said.

The All-Star games highlight the Texas Girls Coaches Association Summer Clinic in Austin this week.
