Lubbock church's pillow ministry reaches milestone

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A local volunteer group has reached a major milestone.

Tuesday, the Pillow Ministry of the Calvary Baptist Church produced their 20,000 pillow.

The group meets every Tuesday at the church to produce the pillows on an assembly line. Then they distribute them to rehab clinics, hospitals, homeless shelters and even to troops overseas.

Ralph Griffith, a volunteer for the ministry group said he's honored to help make them.

"It's a privilege to help assemble these pillows and pass them on to people who get a need out of them. We've passed on about 20,000 of them now and we're blessed by that," he said.

His wife, Janelle is the leader of the group and they said they have been involved in this ministry for 10 years now.

Anyone who is interested in helping can meet at the church at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Calvary Baptist Church is located at 82nd and Albany.
