Sinus balloon breakthrough

Posted: Updated:

A new treatment using a balloon could be just what you're looking for if you need a solution for your sinus problems.

The treatment is called sinuplasty, and it can be done right in your doctor's office. The procedure consists of inserting a small balloon into the sinuses.

"Their sinuses aren't working. They have occlusion of the pathways and their nose isn't functioning normal," Dr. Michael Abidin, and ear, nose and throat doctor says.

Dr. Abidin also says that the reason why it works is because the balloon blows up and fractures the bone and it heals open.

According to Dr. Abidin, sinuplasty has a 90% success rate and works best for patients who suffer from severe sinus problems.
