It's estimated that one in four adults over age 45 take a statin drug to lower cholesterol.

If you're one of those, you'll be glad to hear a large review of studies finds that overall, statins are effective with very few side effects.

The London study published in the journal "Circulation" also determined the safest statins were Zocor and Pravachol.

By the way, there was no money involved in this study from any drug company.

The study published in the journal Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes and was conducted at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
