A puppy with a cleft palate making a big difference

Posted: Updated:

According to the CDC, every year more than 7,200 babies are born with a cleft lip or cleft palate.

Currently there is no organization that keeps track of that in puppies, but Lentil is a dog making headlines because of that birth defect.

His owner, Lindsay Condefer, shared his amazing story of survival online. He has since become a web sensation with over 100,000 likes on his Facebook page. The cleft palate was surgically fixed so he can eat on his own. But he still has a cleft lip.

Now, he is using his every growing popularity to help children with cranio-facial disorders at the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania.

Lentil is currently in training to be a therapy dog with an official title of an "ambassadog", all to help kids understand its okay to be different.
